Executive Positions:

Co-President:
● Positions available: 2
● Duties:
○ Responsible for overall management of the society, including coordinating the activities of all
council members
○ Manage the uns@dal.ca email along with the VP Communications
○ Reviewing and enforcing the society’s constitution
○ Acting as a spokesperson for the society within the department, university, and greater community
○ Meet with Dalhousie Association of Psychology Executive committee on a regular basis to
coordinate joint events
○ Chair bi-weekly council meetings and hold at least 2 general meetings (AGM) during the school
year (1 per semester)
○ Organising academic forums of interest to neuroscience students
○ Responsible for the development and implementation of resources for students interested in
neuroscience in coordination with the academic advisors
○ Attend each DSS Financing and Grant meetings with the VP Finance


Vice-President of Finance:
● Positions available: 1
● Description: responsible for the financial administration of the society
○ Receive and account for all money belonging to the society
○ Prepare an annual budget for the society and present to council for approval
○ Provide a detailed financial statement within 2 days
○ Submit books to the Dalhousie Science Society twice a year
○ Attend DSS Financing and Grant meetings


Vice-President of Communication:
● Positions available: 1
● Description: responsible for internal communication within the society
○ Maintain society calendar
■ Both on website and on bulletin board
○ Maintain societies mailing list and website
○ Record minutes at meetings
○ Organise team management software
■ Make information easily accessible to members using either Microsoft teams or Slack
○ Check in with council members monthly for ongoing support and feedback

Council Positions:

Fundraising Coordinator:
● Positions available: 3
● Description: raise money on behalf of the society
○ Organise and execute events to raise funds for a chosen charity
■ Ex: bake sales, trivia nights, raffles
○ Act as primary liaison between UNS and charity


DSS/UNS Liaison:
● Positions available: 1
● Description: act as liaison between the 2 societies
○ Attend bi-weekly meetings of DSS on behalf of UNS
○ Inform UNS members about opportunities from the DSS


UNS/DAPS Liaison:
● Positions available: 1
● Description: communicate details about events to both DAPS and UNS
○ Attend DAPS meetings


Social Events Coordinator:
● Positions available: 2
● Description: plan social events for society members and Dalhousie community
○ Ex: outdoor games, pumpkin carving, board game night


Sports Coordinator:
● Positions available: 2
● Description: organise any athletic event on behalf of the society
○ Organise and register intramural sports teams through Dalplex
○ Ex: dodgeball, hikes


Brain Awareness Week (BAW) Coordinator:
● Positions available: 3
● Description: organise fundraisers to carry out BAW initiatives
○ Brainstorm and present BAW ideas to the council


Academic Advisor:
● Positions available: 3
● Description: run events to assist neuroscience students with academic performance
○ Provide information for academic opportunities within the neuroscience department
○ Provide support for students graduating and 4th year students
■ Advisor must be above third year


Journal Club Coordinator:
● Positions available: 2
● Description: organise student-led literature/research presentations
○ Coordinate with Brain Repair Centre for events throughout the academic year


Clothing Coordinator:
● Positions available: 2
● Description: organise clothing design, advertisement, and distribution


Neurotrivia coordinator:
● Positions available: 2
● Description: organize various trivia activities for those with an interest in neuroscience 


Gala Coordinator:
● Positions available: 2
● Description: organise and host the UNS and DAPS gala event in the winter term
○ Book venue
○ Work with DAPS to organise the gala


Promotions Director:
● Positions available: 2
● Description: responsible for the society’s social media presence
○ Create advertisement posters for events


Year Reps:

○ Positions available: 3

● Description: inform respective year of students about society activities and encourage participation
○ Attend society events and post about them on appropriate social media platforms
○ Contact professors to advertise on their Brightspace page
